Uncontacted Amazon rainforest tribe photographed

In this era of uber-connectedness, there are actually still regions of our vast world remote to us modern humans. A few days ago, aerial photos of one of the last uncontacted tribes surfaced over the internet. The tribe that lives on the Amazon forest near the Brazil-Peru border can be seen trying to shoot down the heli with arrows. Seeing the photos was amazing to the point of not believing it, since my mind instinctively denied that it was anything but a screenshot from an RTS game.

The big question is, what should we do with them? Should we introduce them to the “light”, or should I rephrase, “darkness”, of modern civilization? Or should we observe them from afar, preserving their cultural asset and uniqueness? Of course, studying their society stealthily would be a great benefit to our knowledge. But would it be moral to treat them as such? The Brazilian government insisted that they be left alone.

This is unbelievable, isn’t it? Can’t get in contact with them though because then they would contract our diseases. It’s possible they could even die from the common cold. A couple of volunteers from an organization I worked with managed to catch some footage of another uncontacted tribe in the Amazon… go to 5:56 for the best shots.
